Ribbon Handling Prototype
1 Week of Solo Development
- Used Unity’s particle system and wind zones
- Created a flowing, responsive ribbon with the particle system
- Challenges included detecting particle collider triggers
- Movement sensing: when the player hold the stick still, the ribbon will break
- Atmospheric particles: particles lining the ground give user sense of depth
- Smoothing functions: ribbon feels like it is being pulled by a string, stick feels responsive to wrist movements
- Camera movement after completing a move correctly is smooth and exhilarating
- Wind Zones: Unity windzones create floating sensation of ribbon
- Responsive SFX: swooshing sound of ribbon relative to speed of ribbon particles
